I love adding items to my carts online but I just rarely click purchase. I have to be so committed to the item or Justin has to have told me that we need it and to buy it. However, local shopping. Hide the cards, lock the doors, keep my in my car cause I want to buy all of the things. I'm just saying... It makes me feel so good to support other creatives and business owners in our town. It also makes me happy that I personally know or have met them in passing so that I have a little context behind the item in my hands. I love getting to tell people where the product was made and often I know how and much of the labor that goes into their work. Some of that has to do with my few photoshoots for Colorado Collective and some has to do with my extensive work with The Locals Bureau and last but not least my addiction to coffee in COS has really connected me with so many likeminded creatives. After a girlfriend opened her gift bag from me recently she encouraged me to write a "local gift guide" and I liked it... So here we go. Hilary McCandless-Beard's ceramic work is my favorite! I try and buy anyone who comes to visit a piece and send them home with lots of Colorado Springs love. I've also taken her throwing class and it's so - much - fun. Best place to shop it, Ladyfingers Letterpress.
A good morning cocktail that pairs well with evening also? Yes, please! Mama deserves a little day drinking especially with brunch, on Mother's day. Dress it up with all of the fixings but the base has to be The Real Dill pickling company. It's local to Denver and they're darling and kind as ever. Odds are, if you live in Colorado you kind of love being active. Give mama the most fun work out of her life. It actually hurts like hell and somehow flies by all at the same time. You can give her one pass or up to unlimited but I'd recommend the five. Give her a chance to get the groove of it. Cycology is owned by some incredibly wonderful humans and I'm just saying, you gotta try it!

The older I get and the more I have on my plate the more that a bath with all of the added salts, earthy fragrances and moisturizing product mixed in makes my mind relax and my body long for it. I hope this eases your mother's day stresses and that you feel as excited about gifting her with these goodies as she feels receiving them. Mostly, she just wants to feel loved, seen, appreciated and get all of the snuggles from you and from the babies that you two are busy raising. But sometimes these tangibles (or others) help her to be reminded when you're not around that you love her, you're thankful for what she does and you want her to be cared for also. xx-km
