Colorado Springs Produce
It Summer time! In my world that means bathing in the sun like a lizard, spending hours in or near a body of water, BBQ's and all of the fresh veggies and fruits.
I grew up in Phoenix, which technically means that everything is dead and the pools are the only thing that represent life and a cooler temperature. However, we spent three months each Summer in Colorado... Which also means that my title of Phoenician was kind of robbed from me (okay with it) because I didn't have to live through all of the heat. We spent Summer's here, in Colorado. Snowbirding at 5? Yes please.
So- Summer veggies, farmers markets, picking tomatoes and watermelon off of the vine or yanking onions out of the earth while in the passenger seat of a go kart driven by my older brother and getting lost in corn fields are all packed into the definition of the word for me. But the reality is, Grandpa's gone which means the farmers aren't familiar with our little faces being the ones attached to the produce removal from their crops, the go-kart is long gone so expedited harvesting of onions is no longer and while getting lost in a tall fresh corn field while terrified of tractors chewing me up and spitting me out now just sounds like a terrible allergy attack on the horizon. At 32, Summer still let's my inner reptile soak up the sun and I can roam the farmer's markets but the efficiency of having a big box of produce delivered to my house and then a ton of people from my community coming over to pick theirs up, feels really good.
I didn't set out to become the delivery point for fresh produce that's pulled from all over farms in the state of Colorado but I certainly do love it. Through the Fall this produce will be pulled from our very own state and then the distributing farmer pulls from neighboring states. Each person can opt in or out each week- which is super dreamy if your Summer's include travel. It's $30 per week and the veggies and fruit vary depending on what the crops are yielding at that time. BONUS: I get to see you once a week! Pick up from our home will always be on a Sat / Sun or Mon and I'll always let you know by Friday morning which day it will be. Sometimes a downtowner will bring multiple boxes that way for easier pickup for the rest of you. If you're interested in signing up, please just send me a note through the contact form on the site with your email and phone number. I can send you payment directions and we'll see you soon!
