The Lofthouse | Monument
Part ll of Things to do in Colorado Springs with The Lofthouse is taking you to Monument, CO. Just about 15 minutes North of The Lofthouse and cute as bug. It’s one of my favorite parts of the area and to be honest, if I were picking a different rural area to live than Black Forest, I’d choose Monument, for sure! It’s so green in the Spring and Summer, there is so much beautiful pasture just a little further North than Monument with big barns that beautiful to tour by, it has a precious lake for fishing, paddle boarding, and reading beside with a little picnic and it just feels very small town sweet. Not to mention, it’s tucked into the base of our mountains and gives you that dreamy getaway feeling, immediately. I hosted an event in their downtown’s Hearth House what feels like yesterday- so charming. If you’re getting married at Hearth House, The Lofthouse is a sweet option for guests or yourself to have a nearby getaway too. (sidebar)

I love driving through Monument, top to bottom. Downtown and then further North up to their lake that sits alongside the Sante Fe train track, Monument Lake. I love looking at the houses, the wildlife, listening to the train, and trying their set of restaurants.
A few noteworthy hikes that I love to frequent!
Monument Rock
Palmer Lake Reservoir (currently under construction, back soon!)
Mt. Herman Rd has several hiking options as well as mountain biking trails and is so lovely and offers easy offshoots for kids!
Obviously, I’m not here to hate on Ice Cream. I think it’s delicious, any time of year, sign - me - up. Rock House is at the top of the list for bringing more joy to my tastebuds and I think you’ll happy with them too. Their little patio feels olden and their scoops are just right. Just look fro the building below on the Southside of CO 105.
Need a night cap? GOTCHU.
Speed Trap is little hole in the wall and it offers a whole vibe with live music and local hippies.
Hungry after your hike? Head to Speed Trap for brunch.
On your way back to the Springs there are a few note worthy options for both food, brews, cocktails or coffee.
First up, Tarah from The Lofthouse, is throwing Jarrito Loco in the hat as a must for amazing Mexican food + margaritas at a really good price. Always here for that.
Love Gin? My dear friend’s tasting room, Lee Spirits, is full of everything you want from a bar, including these delicious cocktails in a can that are a M U S T!
Lee Spirits is a downtown speakeasy hot spot, however, this location is on the West side of 105 not too far before you’d get back to Hwy 25.
Need a beer? Pikes Peak Brewing Company is also In between the Monument Lake area and the North end of Black Forest and the beer is oh, so, good.
Last but not least, on your way out, one of my husband’s go-to’s is Back East. Known for their pizza & wings. Yum.
And of course, a good coffee after a hike feels like such a treat. On your way back to the Lofthouse, pause by Loyal Coffee for some really good visuals and delicious coffee. My favorite is the pair of a butter croissant and a plain latte. But their breakfast sandwiches are delicious and if their pre-covid menu returns, the yogurt and granola is killer.
Enjoy! xx-k
