The Lofthouse | A Hike
My sweet friends down the lane have a beautiful airbnb that’s the dreamiest, loveliest, most intentional space, pairing a combination of the perfect textures and a back deck that will make you swoon. In a world where bigger things have called us to move slower and be thoughtful about the humans we’re spending time with, as well as where we are spending our time, The Lofthouse, is as much a need as it is a satisfaction to all the beautiful things that our eyes want to dwell on.
In March sometime one of the owners, Tarah Macalmon, asked if I’d be willing to build a bit of a directory that she could send her guests to when they’re looking for things to do. Below you’ll find the first round of ideas, with several more to come over the next weeks. Enjoy!
A Rockrimmon Hike + A Sweet Treat
This feels like a good one for the kids, the lovebirds, or if you’re having a solo getaway and need some fresh air and space to yourself. I personally love the Blodgett Trail when I have someone in town that I want to catch up with but want to move at the same time. It’s located in Mid-Colorado Springs in an area called, Rockrimmon, and offers a beginner to intermediate hike. The hike is so covered and lined in trees that I think you could venture on to it any time of day without the weather melting you. Bring water of course. It’s mild enough that the kids can totally do it themselves. I’d take my 3 years old on it without a pack!
Down the road is a Josh and John’s which is not only locally owned but it is the whole jam when it comes to that homemade ice cream feel without wanting to actually make ice cream from scratch. My favorite flavors are Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Salted Peanut Butter Cup. Amos’ favorite is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough as well and Justin’s is their Cookies and Cream. You cannot go wrong. Enjoy the balance.
Other cute ideas in that are are to stop by Bloom Bar for a small floral arrangement or a custom bouquet.
Grab cones + cups and make a little drive to this parking lot where the view of Garden of the Gods is second to none.
If you want to skip the ice cream and go for a pretty drive, you can head up to West Woodman Road and take that back to 25. It goes quickly but it’s pretty on the left and always calls me to slow down a little and enjoy the view.
You can also head North to Monument … Ideas for that part of town next.
Hope you enjoy your stay at The Lofthouse!
