Hosting Well
Hi friends!
As you well know, my heartbeat is near kept by hosting.. in any and all capacities. I love the process of preparing space, welcoming in, and rolling them out full and happy. I hope to have the opportunity to host each and every person that visits this space in one way or another. I think there is an invaluable thing that takes place in us when we begin to think about the who, the why, the how of hosting. In some cases we know just exactly who we’re inviting into a space to wine and dine for an evening or caffeinate and eat some type of an eggy brunch with; and other times we just know what we want to do and what we want to create atmospherically and then we wait for the people to embody the room. Both wonderful, both requiring some time in preparation. Today I want to make it easy for you to access some of my process and inspirations and I hope it sparks a little something to open your doors for the ones you cherish.
My Pinterest Inspiration collections can be found here. Enjoy!
When I start dreaming up an event, it’s usually because I’ve fallen in love with a nook in my home or on the property that I hadn’t really paid attention to beforehand or suddenly it’s come to life and I really want to make memories in there with a group of others. Or, I see something that triggers a theme that could be curated in a fresh and fun way. Or, there is a meal looming atop my tastebuds that must be shared- I could’ve recently met a chef or tried something that felt worth while of sharing. Whatever the thing, I start a new note and jot down everything that comes to mind. Once I’ve solidified the base idea, I start drumming up the rest. Usually I lean in to Pinterest or hunt down #’s on IG for some fresh inspo. I start building out a mood board and then zooming out to feel out what I really want to invest my time in for the upcoming gathering.

No matter if it’s your own sweet family, a group of friends, a group of strangers or a mixture of all, anytime we can make someone feel vested in and cared for is a job well done. My whole goal when hosting is always to be full of detail and moments of unexpected. I want them to leave and reflect and feel cherished by way of food, feel and conversation. Start with something small and see how it goes! Shop your items at home first, support local second. Enjoy the times because these - are - the - days.
