“Telluride, the snow falling down….” -T.G.
Telluride is most adorable. Here are a few recommendations from my experience… Enjoy!
Telluride is divided by the mountain. There are two areas that can be stayed in and explore… The gondola is free and allows for crossover between the older, more charming part of Telluride, where more locals stay over to the newer part called, Mountain Village. The Mountain Village feels a bit like Vail. The town of Telluride feels like everything I want an old cowboy town to feel like. I kind of love it a lot. Pick your poison. Both are worth being experienced and both are easy to access from the other side. The gondola runs until midnight most nights, sometimes until 12 AM.
COFFEE
The Butcher The Baker - Great coffee, pair it with one of their giant cookies.
Bruno - Attached to a bookstore and very charming. I wanted to take home all of the books.
BARS
Allreds at the top of the gondola felt very sweet at sunset. We sat in the bar for a few apps and drinks. We didn’t make reservations, (4 people) but I can see how that could be problematic.
New Sheridan Hotel looked great.
How to Arrive
Years ago I went to Telluride during the Summer. My assistant and I drove to the mountains and the view was breathtaking.
Justin booked us some flights on Denver Air Connection so we could squeeze every moment out of the weekend and what a treat it was. They fly direct from several locations including Denver and Phoenix. Telluride airport is very small so it felt almost as convenient as flying private. Upon arrival, Mountain Limo is very accommodating. A private ride or a shuttle experience can be scheduled beforehand.
DINNER
We enjoyed their pre fixe menu. Their wine list is extensive and wonderful. They have a list of vintage wines that looks fun to taste from if you’re looking to spend $$$$. The ambiance is on point. The food is incredible. Reservations were a little tight. Recommended.
This one felt super special. Cozy, Italian, homemade everything. Remarkable ambiance and staff. We loved it. Felt more causal.
Shopping
(we didn’t buy anything but the shops were fun to explore.)
Rustler Supply
Crossbow Leather
Main street is lined with shops and each one is unique, charming and worth popping into. We spent a few hours taking our time and soaking them in.

Skiing
I hadn’t been skiing since the day I learned how in 1997. I switched to snowboarding in high school and after retiring in my early 20’s I assumed skiing would feel as clunky as snowboarding. It’s been nagging at me to go and I’m SO glad that we went. I think I’m addicted. I really loved it. We rented some gear from Telluride Sports, bought day passes and I had to peel myself off the mountain. From what I hear Telluride offers some really approachable hills for learning. I explored the double greens most of the afternoon and cut Justin loose to the blues at the same time. I cannot recommend it enough.
