I spend all my money on...
…on Lululemon. Just kidding, I spend a lot of our money on groceries too, well and maybe shoes, and sometimes oils. Okay, I like to shop. Here’s the thing, I like to buy things that will last a long time (except for food, I’m totally chill with that expiring). Sometimes people are like, “but why do you spend $118 on a pair of pants or $200 on a coat when you could buy something that looks the same from __________.” Somewhere in my 20’s I discovered that my taste is for things that last a very long time instead of a few wears and throw away. I did that too for a long while and I loved it for that season but as I got older, had less time and discovered where I settled into my style I learned that I would rather wear my favorite piece from years ago and slowly add to the collection of staples/basics/essentials than wear 25 things a handful of times. Both ways are great, both ways satisfy different things in us.
I was introduced to this stretchy, most comfortable, butt shelf developing clothing line through my sister-in-law around 2006. She is the best thrifter and always looks incredible. She also has 3 sisters and between the 4 of them they keep the rest of us up to date with functional trends. So when she rolled in and was like, “Karen they’re the bes but so expensive but so worth it.” I think I was sold. I get it. Sometimes it’s worth it.
Since then, you know 12 years later, I’ve added A LOT to the collection. I love it. It’s worth every penny. Lulu pants stay in place. Their sweaters last for actual years. Their coats and jackets are versatile and appealing for both fitness and normal life activities. Almost all of my pieces I’ve worn at some point with nice boots and a leather jacket. I layer it, sweat in it, go out for drinks in it and get compliments all the same. Also, not in that order.
When I have a little extra budget for a special gift I love buying someone their first piece of lulu. It’s a big deal! It feels like a special treat and every time, I’m thanked. I mean obviously in the moment but weeks or months later, every time, a text is sent or a call is made with a gushing praise about how different it is than the other pieces they have and they really love it. I get asked a lot of questions on instagram about why I like it, how do I justify it, which pieces I’m wearing or where did you get that?! So I wanted to share a pics of a few fall staples I grabbed for the next two seasons but that I’ll wear for years to come. It can be dressed up and down and it’s easy to clean and it lasts, lasts, lasts.
If you want to know about anything specific in store at Briargate you can literally ask for Sarah and I bet you she’ll know exactly what I got because hi, I also make real life friends from shopping there. Also, ask me! I hope you get something special as a treat or give your mama or best girl or hunk of a man a cool gift including lulu. It feels so nice.
